This is Izzy. A 12 year old TWH mare. Izzy has metal wire in her leg which is causing her to have severe granulation. Her leg looks terrible but despite the fact she is an amazing horse. She is still spunky and likes to rule the roost. We are trying to get her surgery in hopes to restoring her to a halfway normal horse. Without this important surgery she is at a very high risk of serious infection which would cause her to have to be put down. She deserves a chance to be normal. She may never be rideable but we want her around for a long time. A healthy happy life.
We have A good Vet who is willing to do the surgery. It will cost at least $2000. Can you help Izzy? Maybe $1. Or if you can $5. Every little bit counts. Izzy is running out of time. Let’s help her have a better life.
Thank you so much for donating some shavings for Izzy
Izzy is due to be taken to the vet on Monday Nov 20th and will be back on Wed. Nov 25th. We are hoping and praying that she will recover well.
IZZY UPDATE
The Vet did some work on Izzy's leg, to remove some of the granulation. She has been on antibiotics since November. We sweat her leg for 12 hours a day. Her leg has shrunk to half of its size. The Vet says she is 90 % sound. Her next vet visit is Jan. 26, 2010
Izzy need lots of Vet Wraps and quilts. Izzy uses 2 vet wraps and 2 quilts a day. Izzy has been put on a special diet to keep her weight up during this time.
