We at Kirby Creek Equine Rehab and Support Center are striving to create a healthy, safe and loving environment for any and all horses that are in need of care, rehabilitation, and new and loving homes. We feel we are an essential part of the equine industry in our local and surrounding areas and strive to assist owners who are no longer able to care for their horses due to the strain of the troubled economic times, foreclosed properties and neglect due to poor education. Due to the extreme drought, the high cost of feed and other equine related expenses these great creatures are being discarded at an alarming rate.
Kirby Creek will also assist in placement of ex race-horses that are being sent to slaughter outside the United States. These champions are loaded onto trailers and driven for hundreds of miles to the Mexican and Canadian borders with little or no feed or water to a fate no one wants to acknowledge exists. Death does not come quickly, or with out pain. All of this degrading treatment for their poor performances. These great creatures are thrown aside without a second chance; what a shame as some of the greatest performers were ex race-horses. The greatest nation on earth was born on the back of the horse and these majestic and soulful beings deserve the respect and care we can provide for them to enjoy a second chance at life with new and loving homes.

The goals and dreams of the directors of this establishment set forth with the conviction to save any and all of our equine partners and give them the second life they need and deserve. With the help of our friends, neighbors and local business leaders we will encourage and educate on the proper care and treatment of the horse.
